Meet the Maker - Artist Tony Oakey
”I'm a full time visual artist from Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. I first started painting in 1992 and am self-taught. I try to treat each day as a new canvas with new thoughts and dreams to influence me. My mood and surroundings, even the music I am listening to, will all sub-consciously contribute to the painting in progress. This way of "working" opens up my mind to a world of discovery where there are no rules, reasons or explanations. It's a less serious place where there are no boundaries between imagination and reality. “
Tony has been a member of the Tudor Artisan Hub Arts Collective since we opened our doors 9 May 2014.
I first met Tony at a Micro Business Network event in Waterford back in October 2008, Tony was one of the artists who inspired me...ignited me to put pen to paper and build a business model, a platform that would showcase, promote and support our amazing pool of local artisans on an on-going basis...and be accessible and affordable to the general public.
Tony's collections are mainly located in our downstairs galleries, we have a wall space dedicated to his amazing limited edition framed prints, which are individually printed and assembled by Tony in his beautiful San-Pitz Studio, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny.
Tony’s highest selling prints from the Hub are his beautiful local interest prints capturing our iconic street scenes and majestic assets Rivers, Bridges, Mountains, Blueway that surround us here in Carrick-on-Suir.
Just recently Tony launched a new offering - beautiful art print greeting cards, which are receiving rave reviews.
