Artist Renée Ní Gig is a full-time artist living in the beautiful village of Tullahought, Co. Kilkenny in the Lingaun Valley. Renée has been part of the Tudor Artisan Hub Arts Collective since we opened our doors May 2014.
Renée studied in Islington, UK and spent 4 years in KCAT Arts Centre Callan, Co. Kilkenny. Renée has six art pieces hanging in Trinity college, one was purchased by the then president for his office. Renée is continuously studying and experimenting, she participated in art therapy for a year which was a game changer, she has been making art since baby infants!
Renée is a prolific artist, she works in a wide-range of mediums, and can literally turn anything into a piece of art! Renée's art does not merely capture moments; it encapsulates emotions, making each piece a living entity that speaks directly to the soul. The way she plays with colours, shapes, and materials brings a dynamic vibrancy that is both captivating and deeply moving.
Renée's ability to transform everyday objects into stunning works of art is astounding. Whether it's a piece of driftwood washed ashore or a forgotten relic found in the attic, she sees the inherent beauty and potential in everything. This unique perspective challenges our perceptions of value and beauty, urging us to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. Her creations are not just seen; they are experienced, leaving a lasting impression on the viewer that continues to resonate long after the initial encounter.
The emotional depth and physical presence of Renée's art are what truly set her apart. Each stroke tells a story, each texture evokes a feeling, making her work not just a visual feast but an emotional journey. Her dedication to exploring new techniques and pushing the boundaries of what art can be is an inspiration to both fellow artists and admirers alike. Renée's artwork serves as a vivid reminder of the power of creativity and the impact it can have on the world. In her hands, art is not just alive; it is life itself, a boundless, evolving force that enriches our lives in immeasurable ways.
Renée has a huge fan-base in the Hub and her artwork has been shipped across the globe.
"I make art to stay alive...I started as soon as I could use my hands. I engraved 'will' on the plaster next to my bed when I began writing. I spent most of my school time doodling or reading a novel behind a schoolbook in classes.  I was entered in a regional art competition without being told by my teacher and won. I have always been making art, Always. The artist who galvanised me was Odilon Redon. At an exhibition in London in 1994 I deeply realised that what I was doing was art. Music and literature have always played a pivotal role in shaping my work and my life. They offer a rich tapestry of inspiration that flows seamlessly into my creative process and everyday existence. The power of our art community and Linda in the Tudor Artisan Hub as the anchor, are such precious treasures to me. The deep respect and love that I have felt from being part of the Hub has supported me in countless ways. This sense of belonging and support has been instrumental in my personal growth as well as artistic development. It has empowered me to to push the boundaries of my creativity, to take risks, and to continually seek out new ways to express myself. Thank you to all who have supported my works and the Hub over the last ten years. Here’s to many more years of creativity, connection, and shared passion. Thank you for being an integral part of this incredible adventure." - Renée
