Artist Mia Carney, Kilcash, Tipperary is a full time artist who also works as an art tutor in HSE mental health units for over 21 years. Mia joined the Tudor Artisan Hub in February 2017. She has exhibited in London, Dublin, Tipperary, Toronto Canada and also in Roseburg, Oregan, USA where she had her first international solo show.
"I can’t imagine not painting, it’s like breathing. I love painting people and landscapes and challenging commissions".
Manyweathers Studio, nestled on the side of Slievenamon in the Linguan Valley is where Mia can be found most days painting, creating, upcycling or planning events. A bit of a 'creative activist' in all things art in the community, she has hosted performing arts events, exhibitions, the annual Christmas Fayre in Kilcash Community Hall and music gigs. Mia collaborates with writers, musicians, actors, film-makers and other visual artists via the Tudor Artisan Hub and together makes magic happen!.
Mia started painting as a child and hasn't stopped since, she is a prolific artist, highly sought after, working in a wide range of mediums and her work has been sold across the globe. Mia loves painting her beloved Slievenamon, which would be one of the top selling artworks in the Hub.
We showcase a variety of artwork by Mia including original artwork, prints (framed and unframed), lanterns, greeting cards (original and art prints), handpainted glassware, hats and so much more.
Mia is always delighted to take on commission work and as she said herself, she loves a challenge.

"The Hub and I...
It's been 8 years since I joined the Hub and my only regret is those first 2 years I missed out on! I'd love to have said I was the full decade and the full schilling too! Most artists are just a few 'pennies short of a full purse' as I do feel our heads are up in the clouds looking at the sky wondering is that cerulean blue or cobalt? We need and depend on people like Linda Fahy at the wonderful Tudor Artisan Hub to not only keep us grounded but to promote, market and sell our work so that we can keep working. The life of an artist is not an easy one but it's beautiful, it's honest and it's the only life I can imagine now.  It's also a solitary existence and without the encouragement and support of Linda and the Hub, I would just be a woman alone in a studio painting away. But with her help I have become the creative activist I've always wanted to be. I'm out from behind the easel and in the community getting involved in wonderful projects as part of the Hub. I feel involved, relevant and appreciated and it's down to being part of this arts collective I think of as family.
Everything else I've done in life was preparation for this wonderful life I'm living now..." Mia Carney
