Meet the Makers
Aislinn and Roisin Duggan are young identical twin artists from Owning, Co. Kilkenny. The twins became members of the Tudor Artisan Hub Art Collective family shortly after we opened in 2014 and have immersed themselves in many collaborative creative projects over the the last decade.
In 2016, Aislinn and Róisin went on to third level, studying in the field of science in Dublin. In 2020, Róisín qualified as a Geneticist and Aislinn a qualified Molecular Biologist. Art was always a passion for the twins and they painted part-time, exhibited and sold art locally whilst studying.
The beauty of nature - flora and fauna is a huge part of both artist's inspiration...infused with magical tones of Celtic mythical influences. The twin artists mainly paint using the medium acrylic on canvas, Róisín also paints in watercolour on paper. They love capturing the essence of animals, big and small in playful and fun, whimsical poses. Their approach to art is refreshingly original, blending techniques and mediums to bring their subjects to life in unexpected ways.
Eco-consciousness plays a significant role in the lives of these artists, influencing not just the subjects of their art but also the messages they wish to convey. Their commitment to sustainability and conservation can breathe life into their pieces, transforming them into powerful statements on the beauty of nature and the importance of its preservation. Through their art, they advocate for a harmonious existence with the environment, inviting viewers to reflect on their relationship with the natural world.
The talented twins also explore the Irish Mythical world which offers a fascinating avenue for artistic expression, particularly for those enchanted by the rich tapestry of folklore and legend that Ireland provides. Róisín and Aislinn delve into ancient stories and myths, drawing inspiration from tales of heroic deeds, mystical creatures, and the enchanting landscapes of Ireland. Irish legends are not just retold through their paintings; they are reimagined and revitalized, sparking interest and awe in the modern viewer. It's an art form that demands not only technical skill but a deep understanding and respect for the stories being told.
Over the years, Aislinn and Róisín have taken on many commissions, including working together on large scale commissions and are both highly sought after for Pet Portraits.
In the Autumn of 2023, Aislinn made a decision to relocate to Dublin and is currently working in the field of cancer research but carves out a little time to paint to rebalance!
We are looking forward to seeing what these incredibly gifted artists will embark on in 2024 and beyond.

"We have been working with the Tudor Artisan hub for almost 10 years , It really was the
launch point for our artist career and what put our work out there. It has been our main
exhibition space and the greatest promoter of our work. The hub has been an invaluable
resource as artists giving us somewhere to show and sell our work , a way to get in contact
with other artists and customers.
The Tudor artisan hub is the artistic and cultural centre for the town and is responsible for
so many of the events, festivals and arts initiatives in Carrick-on-Suir that keep the arts alive.
It is gives the town colour and soul. The Hub is the main outlet for amateur and professional
artists in this region.
The hub is really does good work to promote upcoming and young artists to develop their
careers as it helped us.
The hub is a rare treasure in this part of the country and I have no doubt the careers of
many artists and makers including our own would not have succeeded or been sustainable
without it."  - Aislinn & Róisín Duggan
