"My mood and surroundings, even the music I am listening to, will all sub-consciously contribute to the painting in progress. This way of "working" opens up my mind to a world of discovery where there are no rules, reasons or explanations. It's a less serious place where there are no boundaries between imagination and reality". -

Artist Mia Carney, Kilcash, Tipperary is a full time artist who also works as an art tutor in HSE mental health units for over 21 years
"Even though I live in the countryside, I still sometimes yen for the cityscapes where I spent my formative years. In order to get that desire out of my system, I paint them and all such notions disappear!
Limiting my colours to just the bare bones of the pallet these surreal, architectural bodies appear. Bridges, paths, and buildings arrive, sometimes by design and sometimes it's just the way the paint has rested. They are such a release to paint as very few rules apply but to create an atmosphere and have a bit of fun."
Don't miss this opportunity to get a glimpse of Mia's creative processes, learn about her unique creative journey. Engage directly with Mia and ask questions about what inspires her paintings and learn the stories behind her exceptional work.
